We compiled a list of the best fitness apps easy to work out for those who don’t want to spend thousands of dollars on exercise equipment. Whether you’re looking for one-on-one training sessions, a dedicated fitness plan, a wellness overhaul, or a streamlined routine, there’s a fitness app out there that will meet your needs.

1) Aaptiv Fitness App

Aaptiv is by far the best fitness app on this list and has made quarantine a little bit easier on my body, especially with all of the extra snacking. Aaptiv app creates personalized workouts based on your preferences and goals. Each workout is paired with music that Aaptiv trainers are sure will keep you motivated. I was struggling prior to downloading the Aaptiv app and now I’m way more energized for work.

2) Peloton Digital

Workouts range from 20 to 40 minutes, and there are classes on everything from HIIT to yoga, MMA, strength training, and beyond. Within the app, you can track your goals and choose your workout intensity, which you can modify at any time.

The meal planning section of the app enables you to choose healthy recipes from world-class chefs. The app will generate a done-for-you shopping list making it easier than ever to stick to your plan.

4) Jillian Michaels

Weight loss guru Jillian Michaels’ My Fitness app features a variety of fitness programs and meal plans that can be customized to help you meet your goals. Choose from 30, 60, 90, or 365-day workout programs depending on what fits your lifestyle, all for $14.99 a month.

For days when you’re feeling uninspired, you can use the workout generator to find new classes based on your desired intensity, focus area, and workout duration. Each workout can be streamed on-demand across your devices at any time. 

The robust library of healthy recipes makes it easy to develop a meal plan to complement your workouts.

5) Workout Anywhere By RundleFit

Workout Anywhere is a subscription program that features short, highly-effective workouts suited to individuals at every level. The sessions involve minimal equipment, making them easy to do anywhere you may be. 

Workout Anywhere includes nutrition programs to couple with the workouts. Whether you’re looking to lose weight or just eat better overall, you’ll be able to choose a nutrition program that fits your lifestyle.

COST: Your $27 per month subscription grants you access to mobile coaching, goal setting, daily workout videos, and a Workout Anywhere community. You can also integrate your fitness wearable to track your stats and progress with every session. 

6) Fitbit coach

This fitness app features an array of on-demand workouts enabling you to choose the perfect mix to help you meet your goals without getting bored. The free version features a small selection of workouts of varying difficulties in a variety of styles. 

You can choose from bodyweight workouts, stretching, total body workouts, and more. This makes it easy to find equipment-free workouts that you can do from home. 

The Fitbit Coach integrates with the Fitbit app, making it easy to monitor your progress and stats that you track with your wearable device. 

COST: For $9.99 per month, the Premium version of the app includes a larger selection of individual workouts as well as personalized workout plans, audio coaching, and music integration so you can exercise to your own tunes.

7) Base PT

Base PT offers online HIIT personal training programs. Because the training occurs through the app, you can hold classes anywhere that is convenient for you, whether that be at home, outside, on vacation, or at your local gym.

Once you choose your workout frequency and preferred time slots, the app will suggest personal trainers that are available on your schedule. You choose a trainer that seems like a great fit and schedule your session.

During each HIIT session, your trainer will coach you over video. They will provide helpful notes on your form, offer motivation, and answer any questions you may have about the routine. 

COST: If you’re a fan of HIIT, Base PT is a super affordable way to get one on one training. At just ($18.50), it’s a fraction of what you would ordinarily pay for a gym membership, let alone a trainer. 

8) Seven – 7 Minute Workout

This app features 7 minute HIIT workouts that make it easy to get in a high-impact workout when you’re short on time. Plus, the workouts don’t require any equipment, making them easy to do at home or on the road. The free workout plan is designed to exercise each part of your body to improve muscle tone and facilitate weight loss. 

The workouts include voice prompts, so you don’t need to be staring at your device throughout the session. There are also video demonstrations of each exercise as well as text descriptions, to help ensure you’re doing them correctly.

While the app is free, you can upgrade to the Pro version for $4.99 to create custom workouts, adjust exercise and rest durations, and randomize the routines. The Pro version also includes alternative workouts. 

COST: If you’re looking for a simple and efficient yet effective workout plan, Seven is a great option.
