Unless you’ve been living under a rock over the last few years, hard seltzers have become your friends’ favorite beverage to post about on social media. While hard seltzers have received all the press coverage, boozy teas have quietly grown into the top-selling hard seltzer alternative. During the Fall, a friend recommended Owl’s Brew, a boozy tea brand. Before the recommendation, I didn’t even know boozy tea was a thing.
However, I got tired of drinking hard liquor or the artificial ingredients in most hard seltzers. So, I decided to try Owl’s Brew and ordered their variety 12-pack through Drizly. It came in four different boozy tea flavors, English Breakfast Tea, Darjeeling Tea, White Tea, Raspberry & Watermelon, and Matcha Tea. Their teas are fresh-brewed organic spiked hard tea, made with 100% all-natural ingredients. There are ZERO artificial flavors, natural flavors, or sugar substitutes. Plus, it seems like Owl’s Brew rolls out a new flavor every few months.
Surprisingly, after trying all of the boozy tea flavors, I found the Matcha tea with its tropical flavor to be my favorite. I usually don’t enjoy drinking Matcha, but this tea combined with the pineapple and chamomile is unlike any Matcha I’ve tried. My second favorite is the Darjeeling Tea & Hibiscus Flowers flavor. Even better is that none of them tasted like alcohol. Depending on who you ask, this can be either a good or a bad thing. For me, it’s a great thing! I’m not a fan of choking down drinks that taste like rubbing alcohol to enjoy myself in the evening. The Owl’s Brew flavors that I’ve tried taste like the most refreshing sparkling iced tea, and not like an overpoured alcoholic beverage.
